Time: 9 am - Noon

Location: Windows on the River
2000 Sycamore
Cleveland, OH 44113

Cost:
Members: $49
Non Members: $79

Details:

There was a landlord who thought of himself as the king of his community. “I can do what I want,” he proclaimed, and bade all his servants to follow his bad directions. One day a frog
appeared, looking for an apartment, and the landlord said the magic words “I don’t have
to rent to you!”. Poof, the frog turned into a fair housing tester who filed charges and the
landlord did not live happily ever after. While frogs do not have fair housing rights and protections, everyone else does. You need to know your obligations, so join us on May 9th at Windows on the River for Fair Housing Fables & Fairy Tales (and some nursery rhymes, too) presented by Nadeen Green, Senior Counsel with For Rent Media Solutions™.

Nadeen Green will cover all aspects of Fair Housing.
• General overview. Why it is important - right thing to do, monetary consequences, liability cannot be delegated, intent is irrelevant.
• EHO poster and logo use.
• Linguistic and email profiling and Limited English Proficiency.
• Types of disabilities and the reasonable accommodation requirement. Practical focus on service animals and parking issues.
• Design and construction issues.
• Familial status issues, including occupancy standards and rules for children.
• Sexual harassment by (and of) maintenance professionals.
• Short open discussion. Any questions or issues from interaction with different nationalities.
